When you say branding and design, what does that include?

Branding is when you build a strong foundation of what your customers perceive you as – it ensures that you have strong visuals for your business (like your logo and overall look/feel) but also that your messaging sounds like you, that your name makes sense, and that you clearly know who you are so that your customers can know you too. It’s making sure you’re cohesive. Ultimately though, branding and design can include:

  • Logo design
  • Company name and tagline development
  • Brand strategy
  • Website
  • Brand typography
  • Business cards, letterhead and presentation templates
  • Brochures
  • Packaging design
  • Style guide
  • Overall Image
  • Graphic design
  • Digital advertising graphics
    How much does branding cost?

No business is the same. They all have different goals and needs, so they should be priced differently too. This typically ranges from $2,000-$75,000, completely dependent on the depth and variety needed for your business.

Branding can generally be broken down into three levels:

    Brand visuals: $3,000 – $6,000

    Brand messaging + brand visuals: $3,000 – $30,000
Full brand strategy + brand messaging + brand visuals: $20,000+

If you have a new business, a good benchmark is to spend no more than 5-15% of your budget on branding. So if you’re putting $60,000 into a new business, don’t spend more than $9,000. Then, plan to set anywhere from 2-8% of annual revenue aside for branding each year moving forward so that you can continue to build a strong foundation, getting a strong ROI along the way.

When it comes to branding, there are no hard and fast rules about pricing. Just make sure that whatever you’re investing in is appropriate for the stage your business is currently at.
