What’s one thing you’re passionate about?
I recently discovered my family’s long-lost relatives in Germany after nearly 100 years of separation. I traveled to Germany to meet them and am obsessed with documenting and sharing their stories as well as researching the history and geography behind their incredible life experiences. I like a challenge; I’m studying German and learning to play the accordion.
Where It All Began
I started my career in communications at age 11, working as a paid correspondent for a Minnesota-based pig collectors’ newsletter. I’ve always loved writing, and this early opportunity shaped my career path.
I have a communications degree with an emphasis in public relations from the University of Mary. I’m a certified Strategic Communication Management ProfessionalⓇ with 20 years of experience in communications, public relations, and marketing. My diverse career spans the public, private, and government sectors as well as energy, construction, insurance, and healthcare industries.
Since joining HexaHive, I’ve transitioned from account management and strategy to operations, working behind the scenes to streamline work, create processes, and implement best practices. My favorite part? Collaborating with our talented team to create systems and processes that enable them to deliver their best work for our clients.
My Motivation
Helping other people makes me happy. For more than two decades, I’ve been a volunteer with Bis-Man Mentor Squad in various capacities, including as a mentor, and served for four years on the IABC Great Plains board of directors.
I also volunteer with the Heart of America Germans from Russia organization in my hometown of Rugby, through which I get to learn more about my heritage and stay connected with my community.
When I’m not at work, you can find me reading, writing, and researching. I’ve self-published two books and have given several presentations about my family research findings.
I love roller skating and going on travel adventures with my mom. My boyfriend Aaron and I like to spend time outside hiking, biking, kayaking, and hanging out on our deck with our sweet little kitty, Norma.
